Hand-carved Sakura Needle Minders by Japanese woodworkers

Sakura flowers have been carefully carved one by one by a craftsman who carves the transoms of temples in Okazaki City, Aichi Prefecture.  The magnets built into the hook firmly catch the needle. It can be easily attached to the embroidery cloth inside the embroidery frame using the other magnet included.  By using it as a needle holder at the hands of an ongoing piece, you can make the “placement” and “removing the needle” work safe and smooth.  You can use it by pinching the cloth with the included magnet.

Ishikawa, a traditional craftsman who has been the second-generation carving artist at the Ishikawa Carving Workshop, has been making transoms mainly for the temples. Nowadays, the number of tattoo artists who make transoms has decreased dramatically, and he is one of the few craftsmen.  Each piece is carefully carved out.
